Cherokee County (http://www.cherokeecounty...) is the western-most county in North Carolina. Many people mistakenly believe that the Cherokee Indian Reservation better described as the Qualla Boundary is located in Cherokee County, but actually it is located in Swain County. Cherokee County, however, is located about in the center of the traditional Cherokee territory and was named in their honor.
